Everything's Not Lost

There it was, I had it, my moment of everything-just-hit-me-all-at-once-what-am-i-doing-everything-sucks, and I handled it better than I ever thought I could.

And best of all, I had a friend to help me along, in that 10 seconds of silent chaos.

Everything is okay, and it will be, because the universe will always turn itself back up again and the sun will shine again new.

I will be okay, come darkness or light, the lows of loneliness or the highs of the contentment. Coldplay will always be the answer to questions that are woozy, with some added herbs and spices.

Everything is okay.

Enticing Solitude

A blog award slipped right past, but I'm giving it the attention it deserves now. Akanksha, you lovely thing, thank you! :)

So the rules of this 'Creative Blogger' award are:

1. Thank the blogger and link back to their blog.
done and done!

2. a) Tell us three things about yourself.
one, I'm a hothead.
two, I love to sing!
three, I always take hot water baths, no matter the weather.

2. b)Tell us two things people don't know about you.
one, I hate cake. (sorry, I really am)
two, I use hair serum (really ran out of things to say)

2. c)Tell us one thing you want to change about yourself.
my temper, most definitely. I wish I was inherently calmer.

3. Answer the questions asked by the blogger.
a. What if pigs actually have money inside them? Would you slice 'em up to check?
HAHAHAHAHA OMG WHAT?!
Well now that you mention it, it might just be a possibility, but the only reason I'd slice a pig is for pork.

b. What is the worst pick-up line you've been hit upon by?
Not the worst but most recent.
sigh.

c. Which God do you presume is a fashionista?
Aphrodite, obviously! Also maybe Artemis. (sorry Greek mythology is too interesting!)

d. Do you believe in hate at first sight?
Hell yeah.

e. Is Polo an illegitimate kid to doughnuts?
No, just trying too hard.

f. What made Passion Fruit have the name it does?
It's loud and complex and interesting, just like its namesake.

4. Nominate other bloggers.

Isha, at Chaai, Paani, Etc.
I love her & miss her blogging!

Nilanjana, at ~Nil.
because she's lovely and happy and beautiful. :)

Kshipra, at Muse-Ment
for being delightful and profound. <3 p="">

And Maryam, at Overwhelming Confessions
one of the most beautiful bloggers I know :)

5. Ask questions to the bloggers you nominated.
Choose between (and tell us why)
a) the beach and the mountains
b) chocolate and vanilla
c) heels and flipflops
d) holi and diwali
e) glasses and contact lenses

6. Inform the bloggers you nominated.
On my way!

Love love,
Kanika

The Beach Calls!

Here are some pictures of my ultra cool and cozy room, which I'll be away from for another 4 days because, I AM GOING TO GOA!

*CUE GIRLISH HIGH-PITCHED SHRIEKING*

Last night all my housemates and I had such a blast trying on each other's clothes and exchanging them for the duration of our mid-semester break! Full on girly sleepover.

I made all those giant posters! ^:)

So guys, miss me for another 4 days, and then I'll be back with pictures of me in decent clothes :)

Love in much excitement,
Kanika

Opening up the trunks

"The saddest part, of a broken heart,
isn't the ending, so much as the start."

Ah! How I love this blank box waiting to be typed into. I missed it!

Hello, blog. Hello, people who still read my blog. It's been such a crazy exhausting two weeks (or more) of things and people and dancing for the seniors farewell and getting giant banners printed and saying hello to my zits (Bob and Pete).

So let me see. It's almost the middle of December: almost time to go home to a wondrous Delhi winter, endless cups of hot tea, and this time, my poor boyfriend who has no clue just how cold it's going to be. It's also almost my birthday, which means I have 10 days to get ready for the end of the world and turning 21. No pressure.

I've been having interesting conversations. Experiencing new things. One night, I sat in a corner and observed things as they stopped making sense. Gravity seemed strange. Things existed but with no purpose. It was such a weird feeling. Watching things happen but no longer comprehending the physics. Being so removed from the place where you understand. And smiling through it. I felt like I reached a different dimension. I didn't share this with anyone (except the internet).

You don't necessarily have to share every thing great you experience. Sometimes those moments are meant only for you.

Like me, drinking beer at 1 pm because my ex-roommate graduated last night and left for home this morning. This is meant only for me. To think about how I'll be graduating next year at this time, and I'm scared shitless.

1 AM and Diet Chips

Why do we dwell on the hurtful things, so much so that we have no space in our hearts and minds to dedicate to the good things? It's one of those human tendencies you promise yourself you'll break out of. To be able to find joy in the little stuff is a gift you are capable of receiving.

You know that people aren't nice so why waste time talking about exactly how un-nice they are? Spend that time lying down on your bed, staring at the ceiling and smiling when you think about your lunch and all its deliciousness. Take a walk with a camera and snap a photo of absolutely anything. Have impromptu 30-second dance marathons. Sit with friends who make you laugh.

Life is just too goddamn short to be angry with stupid people all the time. Wake up every morning with the drive to ignore them and concentrate on making each day extraordinary.

Stay lovely,
Kanika

"OMG, Did He Just Unfriend Me?"

These days there are various ways and portals to get dissed, and it just happened to me thrice over. My phone number has been deleted, I have been unfriended on Facebook, and unfollowed on Twitter.

One of my best-est friends has outgrown our friendship, and as much as I made him believe I understood his reasons for not wanting to know me anymore, I wish I had told him how disappointed I was, just so that he couldn't get away with zero guilt. Remember, people: someone you love decides to hurt you willingly, please do not let them get away without letting them know exactly how idiotic they are, so that they will always remember it. They deserve the pain way more than you, and if they can put themselves before the friendship you have all the right to wish guilt upon them.

I can only imagine how I would have felt and reacted had this happened 4 years ago (when it comes to school friends I always end up reliving). Probably lots of crying and chocolate and bitching to at least 5 different friends (yeah...I used to actually call people up back then, I'm an anti-social chicken now).

But now, what did mature, college-going me do? I scoffed. And said "Ok, have a nice life" to his facebook timeline which, for the first time in 6 years, said "Add as friend."

:)

I cannot help but be proud of how much I've grown in these 4 years of college life, however self-obsessed that sentence may sound. I'm usually pretty hard on myself and there are few things that make me feel like a decent human being, and this is one of them.

Love,
Kanika
